The medical examiner’s website states that Gerber died on Sunday at a rehabilitation centre. Details surrounding his death remain limited, with an autopsy yet to be completed. The cause and manner of death have not been determined.
A spokesperson for Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, asked for privacy on behalf of the family during the difficult period.
Gerber, who followed his mother into modelling, was arrested in January 2019 for driving under the influence after he was pulled over while driving a Tesla in Beverly Hills in the early hours of the morning.
He was subsequently sentenced to three years’ probation, DUI treatment and two days of community service, according to reports.
His younger sister, actress Kaia Gerber, had previously spoken publicly about her brother’s long-standing struggles in an August 11 interview with Vogue.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said.
Kaia explained that having a sibling in need contributed to her tendency to present herself as the “easy one” and avoid asking for help herself.
She also expressed pride in Presley after he publicly opened up about his struggles in an Instagram video in December.
Presley is survived by his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and his younger sister, Kaia Gerber.
